Ezra Pound

Here’s his Scowliness, the irascible Ezra Pound, in hisĀ earlier more swashbuckling days, wild man of a new poetry still reverberating today. I found his statement along the lines of, “To write as if Shakespeare never existed,” releases us from an English poetics, he having supped at versions of Chinese Poetry, in translating (from cribs), with a new sense of the poetic line.
