This was a sweet poetry reading in a chapel in Point Reyes used for cultural events. It turned out a novelist of some renown who was to read at a competing venue, the Pt. Reyes Bookstore, and would have pulled a large audience, cancelled, so the large audience came to my reading, by Allah, and it was a joy. Joanne Kyger and husband Donald Guravich stopped by for a goodly portion, swung by from Bolinas (where I once lived for a year in the early 60s, before the great poet migration there, alas…). This was the era in which our daughter, Salihah, and new husband Douglas were nestled in a woodsy paradise in splendiferous Point Reyes, California, and we were visiting. Douglas and Salihah arranged the reading.
